This autumn, Hacklab will host not one, but two LAN parties!

A LAN party (Local Area Network party) is an event where people meet up to play video games, usually by bringing their own computers.

Here you can bring your own computer or other gaming hardware and play video games together with others. We will try to play LAN-oriented games such as FPS games and RTS games. The club evening that takes place during the saturday will be somewhat disrupted since th club room will be transformed into a gaming space, but the workshop and other parts of the hacklab will still be accessible for normal hacking.

Syyslanit 25.10.–27.10.

The first LAN, called Syyslanit, will take place 25.10.–27.10. at Hacklab. It will be a practice run of sorts, since it’s been a while since we did a LAN.

Pikkujoululanit 05.12.–08.12.

The second LAN, called Pikkujoululanit, will take place 05.12.–08.12. The Friday is Finland’s independence day, itsenäisyyspäivä, which is a national holiday, making this a four-day event. As you may have deduced from the name, it will be a combined pikkujoulut (Christmas party) and LAN party. Try not to spill glögi all over your keyboard!

Activities

Some non-gaming activities will take place, such as Sauna, and possibly other things like demoscene stuff. It will also be possible to play couch games and board games, so if you don’t have a computer to play games on you can still participate and have lots of fun.

If you would like to help out in general or organise something specific at the LAN, you can reach out to Brage at @braaar:hacklab.fi or brage.aarset@jkl.hacklab.fi.
